        Silverknowes Vale v City Limits
           3-1
1st August 2007 Jack Kane Centre

Silverknowes recorded their first win in a match were the damage was done in the first half an hour. A depleated Silverknowes squad, with just a 11 fit players on the night ran into commanding 3-0 lead at half time. The game opened brightly with City Limits having a bit of possession early on, but not really harming the Silverknowes backline. City Limits had the first chance of the game when Savage tried to clear a loose ball in the box, the ball rebounded off a City player and then fell to a City player who then fed in Riordan, the striker then in turn screwed his shot wide when he should have made Mason work at least. Silverknowes then took the lead through a bit of confusion. Stewart Manson picked up a loose ball from a Jenkinson tackle and proceeded to beat a midfielder and then seemingly stopping, as a whistle was blown on the opposite pitch, after realising the whistle was not from our ref, he then nutmeged the City Limits midfielder, before beating another defender and then placing an audacious chip in off the top right corner of the bar. Silverknowes first ever goal. The second followed shortly afterwards when Stuart Buckley played a ball on to 'Man of the Match' Jenkinson who flicked the ball on to Scott Manson. The City Limits defender seemed to have everything under control until he left the ball to go back to his keeper. Scott Manson raced in and slid a weak shot into the corner of the net. Third goal just before half time was route one. David Manson clearing his lines deep in his own half and the ball dropping just in behind the City defence. Jenkinson then powered through on to the ball before being hauled down in the box. Up stepped Stewart Manson to send the keeper the wrong to make it 3-0.

HT 3-0

The second half opened brightly for City Limits, with the wind at their backs they tried a few long range efforts with none really coming close to breaching Mason's goal. The game was starting to stretch for Silverknowes as the option of no subs was taking its toll. Three or four players were labouring and could have done with the rest, but they soldiered on and fought for the team. The team spirit was starting to show in the second half with many crunching tackles going in, with Silverknowes coming out on top on more occasions than City. City did get just reward for their attacking play in the second half with a rare mistake by Stewart Manson attempting to pass the ball out of his own box and getting into a mix up with David Manson. The ball fell kindly for the City Striker, who placed a measured shot into the bottom left hand corner of the net with Mason unsighted. Jenkinson was creating havoc all game for the City defence, winning everything in the air and was unlucky not to put in Gallagher and Scott Manson a few times, with just their touch letting them down when near the penalty area. Silverknowes could and should have scored a fourth at the death, when Scott Manson beat 2 City midfielders and then creating space for himself, as he powered forward, Savage and Cunningham were on either side of him waiting to be slipped in, but the young forward opted for a long range shot which came to nothing. Another good performance from the boys, especially the first half and a well deserved first victory.
